Five things I hadn’t realised I admired about dad 5. His friendships all over the world - some new Friends and others that he has maintained over many many years - the fact that he has so many friends show us what a lovely person his friends must have thought dad was. 4. His desire to continually learn. He never stopped wanting to learn. When he had IT lessons from nick, he didn’t just want to learn how to use excel and pivot tables, but how the mechanics of the computer actually worked. I have been witness to many conversations with Tim where they have been discussing things like ‘ the cloud’ all of which go over my head! 3. His energy. He was constantly wanting to rush about to get fit! Even in his last few days he told us he was getting lazy and needed to do some exercise! 2. How much I liked his descriptions for people. he always described the person with their name for example, it was always ‘my pal Chris Knight’, or ‘brother Pete’ or ‘Judith- Brian and Judith’. This makes me smile. 1. His thoughtfulness. I had never stopped to think about the little gestures he made and the thought he put into them. The flowers every time he came to see me that he had bought from the flower man in Eastbourne, the squashed chocolate tea cakes he always stopped on the way here for my boys aka ‘the lads’. I have been so moved by many lovely stories from friends of his little gestures- a sketch pad and pencils he bought for visiting a calligraphy friend in hospital, a memory game he bought for a friends mother who had dementia. Little gestures that he really would have put thought into how he could help them and make their day a little better. I am sure that with time this list will get longer
